Q.  How much does it cost to play lacrosse for RMSLC ?
A.  The registration fee for 2010 is $210 ($185 fee + $25 US Lacrosse Membership)  through Jan. 15, 2010.  A $30 late fee applies after Jan. 15th.  This contributes to the club's operational costs (field rentals, equipment, league fees, officials' fees, etc.).  In addition boys can rent equipment ( a complete package costs $70).  All players must provide their own lacrosse stick (sticks range from $40 to $150), their own mouth guard.  Boys must wear an athletic cup and girls must wear lacrosse eye guards.  Uniforms are an additonal cost and vary.

Q.  What equipment do I need to play lacrosse ?
A. Boys are required to wear a approved lacrosse helmet, shoulder pads, rib pads, arm pads, approved lacrosse gloves, mouth guard and athletic cup.  Helmets and padding can be rented from the club.

Girls are required to have a mouth guard and wear approved lacrosse eye guards.  Coaches will provide additional protective gear for goalies
.

Q.  When does the season/practices start and end ?
A.  Practices typically start March 1st, depending upon weather conditions and coaches schedules.  Games may start as soon as mid-March or beginning of April.  There are usually not games during Spring Break, depending upon school district.

The season ends with the Jamboree tournament the first weekend in June.  All RMSLC teams will participate in this tournament
.

Q.  How often are practices and games ?
A.  Typically the younger grades (2-4) practice 2x per week.  The older grades (5-8) practice 3x per week.  In some cases this will depend upon the coach and weather conditions.  Scheduled games usually take place on Saturdays, and are scheduled by the leagues.

Q.  Where are the practice fields ?
A. Practice fields may vary slightly from year to year.  For 2010 we have tentatively contracted for Youth Memorial, Stenger Complex, Fairmont Park, Maple Grove Park, Tanglewood Park, Carmody Park  and North Arvada Middle.

Teams will be assigned a practice field(s) in mid to late February by the club and coaches
.

Q.  How are teams put together ?
A. Teams are put together by the RMSLC Competition Committee, using guidelines set up by the club and the leagues.  Younger grades (2-5) are formed by the Committee with input from coaches.  Teams for older grades (6-8), when allowed by league rules, will have actual player evaluation days.  Impartial evaluators will assess each players' skill level, athletic ablity and attitude.

Q.  Are there different levels of competition for youth lacrosse ?
A.  RMSLC is a member of the Colorado Youth Lacrosse Association (CYLA) for boys and the Colorado Girls Lacrosse Association (CGLA) for girls.  Each league has several levels of competition, based on skill level and experience.  The CYLA for boys primarily has Blue (beginners), White (intermediate) and Red (most experienced) Divisions.  The CGLA for girls has 3 levels (A,B,C) based on grade, and within Level A has two levels of competition:  Silver and Gold.

Q.  Are teams based on grade or age ?
A. Both the CYLA and the CGLA are grade-based leagues.  No player beyond 8th grade can play youth lacrosse.

 Q.  Can girls play on boys teams, or vice versa ?
A.  RMSLC does not allow girls to play on boys teams, and the CGLA does not allow boys to play on girls teams.
